Kristina Bjoran
Kristina Bjoran is an English major from Atlanta, Georgia, recently graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree. She has worked as a professional technical editor/writer for American Eagle airlines since 2005 and has a deep interest in clear, precise writing. After several internships in the magazine and publishing worlds, she plans to progress to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, to study in their prestigious science writing program.
Growing up between Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Albuquerque, New Mexico, she learned early of her fascination with wildlife. Reptiles and birds were abundant in the jungles and arroyos outside of her houses, and to this day, she can't seem to bring herself to be without some reptilian and avian presence.
Kristina's love for animals and science brought her to one of her current endeavors. After volunteering since 2007 at the Georgia Aquarium, her passion and studies lie in marine conservation, with special attention to the publicly understated world-wide overfishing crisis.
She has also worked diligently with professional photographers in order to further her understanding in the study of light. Being home-schooled for most of her teenage years, photography became something of an understated passion, second only to her love of science.
Kristina currently lives on the south side of metro Atlanta, balancing her working hours between manning a photography studio, volunteering, and research. When not working, Kristina enjoys spending time with her fellow English majors, her three dogs (who live with her parents), her dusky pionus, Falco, timneh African grey, Graycie, and her wonderfully ravenous bearded dragon, Sergeant.
